First of all, this advice and these ideas are from my perspective as a wedding videographer. This is what will work well for a wedding film but it is important to remember that a wedding day is about you as a couple so you can completely disregard any of this advice or these ideas and go for something that is more you.
Something that works really well on video is to write to the other person, talking about the bride or groom. You can start with “You are…” and do that for whatever you can think of. You can write about how you feel about them. You can recap what happened or what you felt when you first met “When me met I…” How does the other person make you feel? You can write a quick overview of your relationship. On video long, drawn out stories don’t work as well, but a short one can, especially a meta overview of a relationship. If you had ups and downs, highs and lows. You can write about some of the important highlights of your relationship. When did you know? When did you know that you were meant to be together? When did you know you were meant to be married? How did you know you were supposed to be together? What stuck out to you about the other person? How were you sure? You can make a statement of committment, how sure you are that it is meant to be, double down on your devotion to the other person. A wedding day is the perfect time for this. What are you looking forward to? What are you looking back on? What do you hope for the future? What are your hopes and dreams? What do you hope for your relationship? What obstacles have you overcome? What hardships have you gone through? How is relationship stronger on the otherside of these difficult things? What makes the other person special? What makes your relationship special or unique? Who are you as a couple? Talking about the other person- everyone knows you as….
Basically write about the other person, I’ll use these beautiful thoughts as an audio backdrop to gorgeous footage of the other person. To make a videographer happy using a few “You are…” statements will be very helpful. When it comes down to it though, a wedding day is about the couple, so make sure you focus on what you want and are interested in, you can take these things in whatever direction is best for you and it will be better for it. These are just some wedding ideas that you may find helpful. Be sure to write from your heart and use it to reflect yourselves as a couple. Do not overthink things, or be nervous, just let the thoughts flow and be confident in your relationship.
