Herndon Camp Meeting Wedding
“Welcome friends”
Kayla & Michael Herndon, PA
An incredible summer wedding at the Herndon Camp Meeting in Herndon PA. This wedding was special because Kayla’s family has spent summers at the camp meeting for generations. The Herndon Camp Meeting is in the hills on the east bank of the susquehanna overlooking the river. It is surrounded by small farms. The camp itself is made up of small cottages built in the 1920’s, squeezed together in neat rows.
“You inspire me to live selflessly”
Tabernacle Wedding Ceremony
The couple had their first look outside the tabernacle where the ceremony was held. This wedding video also includes a great reaction from the father of the bride during their first look. The tabernacle seats a few hundred guests and was open to the outdoors, the slats covering the window openings were propped open giving the wedding ceremony an open airy feel. The groom surprised everyone with a custom song he wrote and recorded for the processional.
“You believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself”
Three Strand Cord
Their ceremony was unique and special with a three strand cord they wove together, built by the father of the bride and a time of prayer with their families. After the reception the guests relaxed by the dining hall where the reception was held.
“People do not live in isolation, their love is a source of strength which they may nourish not only each other, but also the world around them.”
Outdoors Themed Reception
The wedding reception featured speeches, a buffet dinner, and a trail mix bar guests could create their trail mix at. The bride and groom are avid hikers and the reception fit the theme of outdoors including topographic maps. The couple had taken photos in the grove but the photographer and I also took advantage of the spectacular summer sunset overlooking the farm fields. The getaway car was a golf cart used in the grove.
“I Do”
Custom Wedding Song
Having a custom song written and recorded by the groom really helped in creating the wedding highlight video. Choosing the right songs to use in editing the wedding video is one of the hardest things to do when finalizing a wedding highlight video. I was fortunate that the song was really well done and had the right tone for the video. It had a beautiful, building, soaring sound that works well for a highlight video. It also matched the theme of the wedding with a folksy-Ben Folds kind of song. Of course having custom lyrics to their specific story made it all the better. Every couple brings their own unique talents and style to a wedding and that is what makes it so special and interesting to film. Kayla and Michael were so nice to work with and the day was pleasant to film.
